Arohaina Centre

My introduction to Tairawhiti Community Voice (TCV) was as a nominee for the Nan Evans Award in 2012 by The Gisborne East Coast Cancer Society, who then nominated me as their representative on the Executive Committee.

In 2015, I was co-opted onto our umbrella organisation Community Networks Aotearoa (CNA) and then served on their Executive Committee in 2016 for a term of 2 years.

In 2018, I joined Arohaina Centre as a volunteer and at our 2019 AGM they nominated me as their representative on the TCV Executive Committee.

Together we can have a voice for our people.

IDEA Services

Currently a Service Manager for Idea Services overseeing residential and vocational support for adults with intellectual disabilities. I have been in the role for 7 years. Almost a local, I came to Gisborne as a 20 year old and have had extensive employment and involvement in government, local government, youth, sporting and emergency services in our community over the last 45 years. I am involved in TCV because I believe that we have a stronger voice as a network rather than individual groups and that we can make things easier for each other by working together.
